Clayton Christmas Parade-Happy Holidays!!

DanceArt Studio participates in the Clayton Christmas Parade each year.  It is such a special time for our DanceArt dancers to dance down the street and our little ones to ride on the DanceArt float!  The day was full of smiles, fun, and tons of dancing!  Some of the students performed a Christmas Clogging dance as they clogged down Main Street.  Others performed a jammin’ out Christmas hip hop dance.  There were many of our young dancers (ages 2-4 years old) that rode on the float for their first parade experience!  There were also beautiful ballerinas on the float that wore their “peppermint” costumes for the spectators.  The crowd “oooohd”  and “aaaahhhdd” over the red & white candy cane tutus!  We try to find a way for all our students to participate in such a fun event!

The music was booming and the crowd was clapping along as we passed them on the street.  Seeing a smile and just a friendly wave to a stranger makes this time of year a special one!  DanceArt Studio and staff wishes everyone a happy, fun, and safe holiday season!  Turn on some Christmas tunes and dance a little with your family and friends!  I’m sure you’ll have more smiles and many more laughs!!

West Johnston Dance Exhibition

This was the first year for the annual West Johnston High Dance Exhibition.  West Johnston High School Dance Team hosted this event as a fundraiser for their dance team.  They invited dance studios and other high school dance teams from all across the state to participate.  They left it open to everyone (even up until the last minute) so that schools and studios could sign up and jump in to participate!  They needed as many people as possible to participate to make this show a success.  The kids did a great job of organizing and getting participants as they were on the phone even the week before the exhibition trying to get more studios to come out and dance!  Their passion and needs to raise money for this event really shined through.

            DanceArt Studio performed three clogging dances with kids of all ages.  We jammed out to some awesome clogging choreography created by Mrs. Lauren and Mrs. Katie!  The house was rocking as the kids stepped out of the box and did a hip hop clogging routine, others performed an all time favorite Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and a little old school to “I’m Bad”!!

            We also had Mrs. Cheri’s lyrical choreography performed on stage for the first time!  It was amazing as the students glided across stage and performed with more passion than ever before!  The costumes were simple but the movement was inventive!  There are many more lyrical dances to come for the rest of the season at DanceArt Studio!  The kids cannot get enough of it!

            Congrats to all the performers that were showcased at this event.  It is always exciting to see the dances that choreographers create!  This was a fun filled day of dance and performing with local dance studios and schools.  Watching young people come together and have a passion for the same thing….dance…is always an inspiration!

 

 

Princess Dance Night…what a magical evening!

Our Princess Dance Night was such a fun and magical evening!  The instructors were dressed up as Belle, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Tinkerbelle, Jasmine, Snow White and more!  The kids came dressed in their favorite princess outfit last Friday evening!  They looked so glamorous!  Dancing, crafts, snacks, more dancing, princess stories, princess activities, and more dancing made the party tons of fun for everyone!  The studio was transformed into a princess themed atmosphere with princess castles, princess silohettes, and princess decorations everywhere!  Our next princess party will be in the spring of 09!  Don’t miss out on a magical and enchanting evening!!!

Fall dance classes are well under way.  The kids are settling in and leaping into the room for their exciting dance classes each week!

It has been an exciting week as the dancers and siblings are coming in showing off their Halloween costumes!  We’ve seen great costumes like princess dancers, groovy disco girls, witches, fairies, a punk rock ballerina, superman, and tonight a little batman!  Trick or Treat!!!

"All Boys Hip Hop" with Ms. Kim

Ms. Kim’s “All Boys Hip Hop” is a big hit this year!  We have boys ranging from grades 2nd-5th grade.  They are so into the hip hop choreography.  These boys can move!  The class is every Wednesday 4:45-5:30pm.  Come give it a try for free!

Happy Summer!

I hope everyone is having a safe, fun, and wonderful summer!  It seems to be flying by.  The summer dancers have been dancing in and out learning new and inventive choreography.  The dancers are loving their classes!

DanceArt is open this summer Tuesday-Thursday 4:00-7:30pm for fall registration.  Stop by soon to register, observe classes, pick up more info, or to just say hi!  Only five weeks until fall classes begin!

The Summer Dance Intensive for Middle and HighSchoolers will be held July 29th-July 31st from 10am-3pm!  Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Choreography, and acro! (Prior dance experience is needed for this intensive.)  Call today for more info.
